I’m Going to My First Jewelry Trade Show

| January 16, 2009 | 0 Comments

orlandologo-copyI just received my badge and preview guide for the Orlando Gift Show and Jewelry & Accessories Expo to be held January 24-26 here in town.  I'm psyched.  This will be my first trade show and I've been taking notes from Lisa Suttora's WhatdoISell audio training on how to navigate trade shows.  She tells about how to deal with vendors, what information to divulge and what to keep discreet, what to bring to the show, what to wear, everything.  So I'm going to be well prepared.

Because I sell mostly vintage jewelry I'm not expecting to find inventory there.  I'll be looking for findings and unique jewelry related items to add to my product line.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I've also recently been approved as a retailer for a line of locking jump rings that are available in gold and silver.  I've placed my first minimum order so be looking for those on sale in my ebay store soon.  I wrote about these great rings in an earlier blog post and they're great.

Another exciting adventure is my visit to Renninger's Antique Extravaganza this coming Saturday.  I've never been to Renningers and they have a reputation as one of the best antique fairs in the Southeast.  On that visit I'll be scouting old jewelry magazine advertisements, specifically Trifari and Coro.  I would like to be able to date the costume jewelry I sell using these ads.  I've seen a website that sells vintage costume jewelry and displays a photo of the piece for sale next to the original magazine ad.  It looks great and gave me some ideas for my own listings.   I'll also be looking for other odds & ends that I can use in my business and home, and treasures to sell in my on-line stores.

Looks like the next couple of weeks are going to be packed with new and exciting adventures.  I'll post updates on my experiences.
