The Charm Cellar is Open for Business

The Charm Cellar It's been a while since I started visualizing having my own site where I sell vintage charms and bracelets.  It started when I picked the name about a year ago and set to work looking for just the right photo for my header.  I settled on a pretty blue cellar door with flowers painted on it.  It just looks like a charming cellar to me.  Then I researched shopping carts.  There are so many available my head was spinning.  I chose a Zen Cart because it was open source and the only cost was the web hosting.  Also it appeared to have a lot of functionality and I had seen some examples of other Zen Cart websites I liked.

With an image of the design in my head and a cart chosen I started to look for someone to do graphics. I planned to set up the Zen Cart myself.  That was a mistake because it turned out to be more complicated than I realized.  I ended up having my developer do the graphics and program the features on the software.  I used Debi Gregan of Dream-it-Webworks.  She did a great job.  All I had to supply was the header image and the photos for the categories.

So as of last weekend The Charm Cellar is up and running.  I haven't sold anything yet but hopefully soon.  Actually I haven't had time to get too many vintage charms and charm bracelets listed in the categories.  I've carefully chosen some charms I want to sell there and hope to get most of them in the store this weekend.

Now comes the promotion part which should be fun.  For starters, I have announcements printed and ready to insert in my ebay packages I send out, and I'll be sending a short email to some of my past customers. I also made a banner with a link to advertise on a few other popular blogs.  I'll see how that goes and then plan from there.  It's all very exciting.  I hope my readers will click on over to www.thecharmcellar.com and check it out.  Please comment with any ideas and let me know what you think.
