Cincinnati Charm Convention – The Last Day
Sunday was the final official day of the charm gathering. We got up early in the morning and several of us went to an antique / flea market in Indiana. The rest stayed at the hotel and did more charm sharing. I was one of the antique market folks. Sandy accompanied us on our fun field trip. I haven't been able to find the quality of antique markets in Central Florida that there are in the Midwest so I was anxious to check it out. I wasn't disappointed. I purchased several nice charms for my collection at fantastic prices. I watched Sandy bargain with the dealers and learned to negotiate the price myself. There are dealers that know Sandy and save their special stock until she comes. She had alerted them beforehand about our visit and there were lots of treasures to choose from.
The group met back in Cincinnati for lunch at a local restaurant and finalized our contest and door prize activities. The planners had created some charm quiz games for us and they went through the solutions over our meal. One page listed 30 architectural or tourist landmarks and the objective was to name as many as possible. Another worksheet quiz showed some popular collectible charms and we matched them to their names. There were some pretty savvy collectors that got almost all of the answers. I wrote down everything on my game sheets for future reference
Later, back at the hotel some of the members said their good-byes and headed home. A few of us stayed an extra day to decompress and recover from the madness of the previous few days. We spent the afternoon in the meeting room assembling our new treasures from the weekend and then went out for a pizza dinner and some Graeter's Ice Cream that evening.
Every one of the attendees ended the weekend talking and planning for next year's gathering. We all had so much fun and made new best friends. We miss each other already. Our hostesses thought of everything and once again I extend my most sincere thanks to Sandy, Lisa C., and Pam for making it such a memorable weekend. Next year's hosts in California have set a date and are already busy locating hotels and scheduling events in and around Pasadena. We all can't wait to see each other again and there will undoubtedly be more members attending next year. It's surely something wonderful to look forward to.

There is a really nice general mgr. of a Best Western in Burbank, who also owns his own motor inn. His name is Mr. Patel, and his place is: Burbank Inn and Suites, 180 West Alameda Ave., Burbank, CA. You may want to check it out. I have not yet stayed there…..Tell him Ms. Finberg from Virginia told you about him. He might offer a really good group rate….???? He tells me the rooms are quite large, and I know the beds are comfortable, as I
stay at his other hotel, for which they bought the same beds.
