Connemara Marble Shamrock CharmsWho can resist lucky charms?  Especially when they are beautiful green Connemara Marble Shamrocks? Connemara marble is a luxury marble known as “Irish Green” because it’s mined exclusively in the wild rugged Connemara Mountains of western Ireland.  It’s a rare highly variegated and veined marble found in over 40 shades, from pale yellow, to various shades of green, and gray. The beautiful and unique character of Connemara marble has made it in great demand for sculptures, buildings, and jewelry for centuries.

Connemara marble is a common symbol among Irish people and is known as Ireland’s National Gemstone.  It’s a traditional gift given between family members as a symbol of peace, prosperity and luck.  Connemara marble is often made into worry stones or strings of beads and sold as souvenirs from the area.  Sometimes these are called Connemarble beads.

I have three Connemara marble shamrock charms, shown above, and I love their color.  Besides the nice variegation, I like that they are a flat, almost olive green, instead of the more common shiny, bright, or forest green enamel shamrock charms.  There’s lots of other pretty Connemara Marble Jewelry on the market including pendants, rings, and earrings, but I intend to wear my trio of shamrock charms on a neck chain for luck this St. Patrick’s Day.
