My New Thomas L Mott Bracelet From The Collection of Joan Munkacsi
Thomas L Mott vintage charms are my favorite charms of all. I started collecting them several years ago setting my sights on owning one of each TLM charm made. Soon afterwards I upgraded my goal to having the largest collection of TLM charms in the world. I've been collecting in ernest all along the way and goodness, I'm so greedy, now I've decided I want ALL of the Thomas L Mott charms. Yes, that's right, none for anybody else, I want them all to be MINE!!!
So this past week I was elated to be able to buy a TLM bracelet already made with various country maps form the estate of Joan Munkacsi. Her husband has been offering jewelry from her extensive collection of charms on eBay for a year or so, and I've tried bidding on several charms with no luck. It seems the prices always go into the stratosphere. Every serious charm collector wants a memento of hers it seems. The angels must have been shining down on me with this auction though (or maybe it was Angel Joan herself). I never in a million years thought I would win the bracelet.
The bracelet itself is a link that I've seen on many TLM pre-assembled bracelets. Although it's not marked as one of his designs it definitely was one he used. There are eight colorful country map charms, two of which I've never even seen before. I had no idea there was an Italy and France map. So I'm extra pleased with those. My Joan bracelet will be the centerpiece and most prized piece in my collection for sure.
